Doug and Teresa opened Bartees Flowers in 2004, in Teresa’s hometown of Bennett, North Carolina. However, flowers have been their passion for over 30 years. Since 1987, they owned and operated three floral shops in the Durham area.
In 1978, Teresa earned national honors in horticulture, driving her interest in floral design. Her understanding of horticulture has enabled her to capture the beauty of natural and botanical flowers in many designs. Designing for over 30 years, she has developed a unique style of her own, interacting with trends in the floral industry. She embraces ideas of providing style , color, and a creative vision for many occasions. During her career as as owner and designer, she has attended many workshops and design classes. She has also conducted classes on design.
Doug is a second generation florist and enjoys serving others in many surrounding communities. In 2003, he became a Christian; and in 2011, he answered the call to the ministry. He is currently attending the College at Southeastern.
Doug and Teresa have three sons. Will and John attend N.C. State University pursuing degrees in agriculture business management with a minor in horticulture. Clark aspires to attend V.M.I. in 2013.
